AXA Electrical Inspection Service

AXA Insurance have partnered with NECTA to provide a service that takes the hassle and uncertainty out of an electrical inspection. This specialist Electrical Inspection Service (EIS) will tell you whether your premises are safe - helping you to protect your staff, your business and to comply with industry standards on electrical safety and meet your insurance requirements.

The AXA EIS is primarily designed for small to medium sized businesses and is available to both AXA and non-AXA clients. For larger sites, please refer to our Electrical Inspection and Testing Service for further information.

The Electrical Inspection Scheme offers:

  • A service endorsed and audited by City & Guilds of London Institute
  • Fully qualified and highly experienced assessors.
  • An easy to read electrical condition report.

Frequently asked questions.

What's its purpose? - why do I need it?

The purpose is to assess the electrical system in your premises and to highlight any potential dangers.

Once the inspection is completed the assessor will provide you with an easy to read report on the condition of your electrical system.

It is also a legal requirement under the 'Health and Safety at Work Act 1974' for the manager or proprietor to maintain a safe place of work at all times.

Plus it's often a condition of your insurance.

Are the Assessors professionals?

All NECTA assessors are qualified, trained and experienced in their field and undergo regular competency assessments.

The Electrical Safety Council body NICEIC recently stated:

"NICEIC has recognised for some time that (periodic inspection, testing and reporting) requires above average knowledge and experience in order to carry it out safely, confidently and professionally."

Assessment is a job for experts and NECTA staff are just that.

NECTA are also members of the NICEIC and the ECA

Is the Inspection Service an Approved Scheme?

YES - its been approved by The City & Guilds London Institute by means of an external accreditation process which includes regular audits of:

  • The management
  • Procedures
  • Documentation
  • Customer feedback
  • The credentials of the Assessors

NECTA are also members of the NICEIC and the ECA

Why use NECTA instead of my local electrician?

As a Duty Holder it is your responsibility to ensure that you have employed a competent person and that the report submitted reflects the electrical condition of your premises.

Use NECTA and this is one less thing to worry about.

Local Electricians may be OK for installation and corrective action but its doubtful they have the expertise for this kind of work.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the size of your premises. There is a significant discount included for AXA Insurance clients.  The matrix of prices is as follows:

Premises size Fee for AXA customers Fee for Non-AXA customers
Up to 1000m sq £345 + VAT £445 + VAT
1000m - 2500m sq £645 + VAT £745 + VAT
2500m - 5000m sq £1240 + VAT £1,340 + VAT
Over 5000m sq Subject to separate quotation Subject to separate quotation
Size not known NECTA will advise NECTA will advise
  • Discount for multiple surveys
  • Payment plan option for significant work

Will there be any disruption to my business?

There shouldn't be, and the Assessor will always discuss the process in detail before starting.

Generally speaking nothing vital to your business will be switched off.

NECTA aim for business as usual whilst they're at work.

How long will it take?

Depending on the size of your premises, it can range from a few hours to a couple of days.

Before commencement, the Assessor will give you an estimate of how long it should take.

What happens after the survey?

The Assessor will provide you with a full report at the end of the visit and will explain the content of the report and highlight any work required.

Must NECTA carry out any Corrective action?

No, NECTA recommends that you use your local NICEIC approved contractor.

However, NECTA is available to provide technical support should you require any advice on the corrective action highlighted.

How often should I have a survey?

It depends on the Premises, but between every 3 to 5 years is recommended to ensure that your premises are as safe as possible.

How quickly can I have a survey?

From booking, NECTA guarantee to be on site within ten working days.

An inspection can be arranged by phoning NECTA on 0845 0943312 or booking, online click here.
