In order for electrical installers to self-certify that their domestic electrical installation work in England and Wales is compliant with Building Regulations, they must be registered with a competent person scheme. All applicants must be able to demonstrate they have the ability to install, inspect, test and certify their work in accordance with BS7671 and to comply with the relevant Building Regulations.
The DISQ is a 5 day programme comprising of training and assessment, to meet all the needs of the competent person scheme. The emphasis of the qualification is on understanding regulations, standards and terminology and having the ability to identify unsafe electrical situations and perform electrical test procedures. Knowledge and appreciation of the relevant requirements of other appropriate Building Regulations is also covered during the course.
The duration of the course is 5 days including a 1 day assessment. The first 4 days are dedicated to the theoretical and practical modules, with the fifth day allocated to the assessment. Separate full scope and limited scope assessments are also available.
